Johnny Benson, Jr held off the charges of “Liquid” Lou Cicconi after passing early leader Eddie Witkum, Jr and sliced his way through heavy lapped traffic to take his second ISMA Racing Against Cancer 100 Sunday, October 2 at Seekonk Speedway.
Benson, who started in seventh position, artfully worked his way through the field and once in lead opened up a straight-away lead. With several cautions bunching the field, Cicconi moved to the rear nerf bar of the leader and worked him hard with less than 20 to go.
Lapped traffic created exciting wheel to wheel action amongst not only the top 2 but throughout the top five that consisted of Russ Wood, Robbie Summers, Jon McKennedy, and Chris Perley. The crowd rose to their feet at the end of the race as the lead packed sliced through the lappers, at times, going three wide.
Cicconi faded at the end of the race while McKennedy came on strong to challenge for a top three.
One red refueling red flag and several simple spins were the only thing to slow the pace.

Joe Gosek may have gone without a win at Oswego Speedway in pursuit of the 2011 championship, but he was the class of the field at Sandusky Speedway in the MSA 50 lap feature.
Gosek, who actually spun while attempting to make a pass on Charlie Schultz for third position on lap 30 in turn 2, used the outside groove to his advantage all night long and was running 15 second laps doing so.
Michael Barnes lead the first 32 laps of the race while being challenged by Trent Stephens until he broke the driveline on the Gary Morton 70 down the backstretch. Stephens, with nowhere to go, ran into the back of Barnes then ricocheted into the wall.
Tim Ice then inherited the lead and looked to be the clear winner until it became apparent that Gosek was fully recovered from his earlier spin and was tearing to the front.
Just as Gosek was about to make the pass for the lead out of turn two on lap 39, Jim Paller broke a torque arm entering turn three.
On the restart, Gosek finished what he had started and easily disposed of Ice.
Ice held on for second over Schultz Moe Lilje, and Brandon Fisher.
Official Finish 50 Lap MSA/Oswego Non-Wing Challenge:
Joe Gosek, Tim Ice, Charlie Schultz, Moe Lilje, Brandon Fisher, Bob Dawson, Jim Paller, Michael Barnes, Trent Stephens, Dave Shullick, Jr., Matt Palmer, Larry Lehnert, Jack Smith, Jon Smith

Chris Perley continued his dominance at Oswego Speedway winged supermodifieds in the 18th Annual Bud Select SuperNationals 55, but his dominant win didn’t come without a nervous moment.
Perley was working on the 28 of Bobby Dawson looking to go high in turn three for fourth on lap 8 when Dawson lost a drive line. Perley’s car wobbled wildly as he made contact with Dawson’s rear nerf bar. Perley spun towards the wall stopping just as the left rear grazed the wall.
After a slight disagreement with race officials as to where he would restart, the six time ISMA champion took his place at the back of the pack. On the restart he wasted no time moving to the outside to start his march back to the front.
While Perley charged to the front, Tim Ice was working hard to stave off the challenges of Ray Graham, Jr. who had moved to second.
What looked to be setting up as a replay of the July ISMA race at Oswego where Perley reeled in Graham and passed him with six laps to go, failed to materialize when Graham’s engine began to sputter.
Perley moved to the rear nerf bar of perennial Oswego bridesmaid Tim Ice and after trying high dove to the bottom lane down the front chute to take the lead on lap 27.
From there to the finish it was nothing but Perley as he won by over a half of a track. Ice, as has been the case on four other occasions at Oswego Speedway, held on for second, while Joey Scanlon, who hadn’t even planned on racing with the wing, found himself on the podium.
Only one other caution slowed the pace, coming on lap 13 for debris.

Earlier in the day Trent Stephens who is the current point leader with the Midwest Supermodified Association had a wing strut break down the front stretch leading to a hard hit into the turn one wall. Stephens walked away but the car was out for the night.

Chris Perley may not have led the most laps at Lee USA Speedway in the ISMA Ollie Silva Summer Classic but he led the one that paid the most money.
Perley who started 12th in a field of 19 steadily worked his way through the pack content to let Russ Wood pull out to a dominating lead early.
Wood would end up pitside before the night was through while his teammate Rob Summers, who ran second to Wood early on faded.
It was then Jeff Locke’s turn to pounce and he put the Locke Crane Service car in the lead.
Locke’s loose race car was his undoing as he tried to weave his way through lapped traffic, falling victim to rookie Dan Bowes.
Bowes quickly stretched his lead to 10 car lengths as Perley battled with Justin Belfiore in the top five.
Perley moved to second after the half way point with Belfiore in tow.
It took Perley to lap 72 to catch Bowes and he used his skill learned through 6 ISMA Championships to block Bowes in behind a huge pack of lapped cars.
Bowes watched a chance at his first victory disappear as Perley held on for the win.
Official order of finish for ISMA Ollie Silva Memorial Summer Classic at Lee USA Speedway:
1. 11 Chris Perley
2. 18 Dan Bowes

Thanks so much for all the great pictures of Classic weekend.
Could not be there, but they helped.......a little anyway.
Dan Kliegel "the best way to spend a monday night at 7pm....good interviews , racing news,,,,and the antics of the G man"-Ross Belfiore Thanks to you and your staff for the coverage from Stafford. We appreciate the instant results and is the next best thing to being there. Please keep up the good work. Joe Shivac Dear Bobby G.
I am a member of the Bobby G. fanclub. I am so excited to see my picture - alongside my buddies Bart and Half-Mile Hemingway & yourself on the Front Page of your website. The fact of the matter is: I haven''t seen a Super Modified race since the fifties and I had a great time yesterday down in Toledo. You did a great job announcing. I am glad to have met you. You are an asset to the sport. Seeing those pictures this morning (Bruce told me about your website) brought back the excitement from yesterday. My ears are still ringing.
We three old men have decided to make this an annual event!
Chuck Clemens Love the show, you all do an amazing job.
Thanks,
Kevin Timmins Hi Bobby,
Great interview with Mike Lichty....really got me pumped for the upcoming season. I saw my very first Supermodified Race when I was about 12 and have been addicted ever since! That was back in the 60's when the "Supers" exploded in the London, Ont. area at tracks like Delaware, Nilestown and later Flamboro. Great site!
Many thanks,
Mike Graham Thanks for the great shows! Keep it up-that's "Wing Side Up" See you at the reunion!
Joe Prevost First I would like to thank you and your fan base for the opportunity to have been chosen for this prize. I also would like to thank Alan Clark for linking me up with your Facebook page. ~George H. Wagner Jr. I really like your show, you guys have come a long way in a year, evrything stops here at 7 o clock so I can catch your show. My wife plans dinner around it! I would like anything you send. Looking forward to may 8 at Sandusky. The wail room is fun,I have got to know Tom N and Brent,The Great Pumpkin. We plan to meet at a race this year, pretty cool stuff.
Thank you again,Your favorite speed freak.
~Gary Chapin I thought the webcast was awesome. There were obviously some glitches but that didn’t bother me in the least. It was just great to
be able to watch live west coast super racing! And now you are telling I won something, SWEET! ~ Clint Moulton Great show first time Ive tuned in and I'm loving it. What did I win? :) ~TJ Woolsey Thank You guys the show is awesome! ~ Ray Sand Jr. I’ve been a race fan for 55years and this is my 1st year as a super fan and i have totally enjoyed it. The speed , no radios,no mirrors and no passing flag puts it all on the driver. I grew up going to Seekonk and last sat. was my 1st trip there in 25 years it’s gone from being a dump to a really nice track. Both super divisions put on a fantastic show hope they come back next year. Plattsburg,NY was awesome I was disappointed that Woody won until he pulled my # for the 50/50 drawing. That changed my mind in a hurry sure hope they go back there next year. I can’t make Thompson so I’m in countdown mode until next year. Oh ya love your show and listening to you at the tracks. ~ Charlie Williams Love Supermodifieds, and Wing Side Up! ~ Ben Roberts Very cool site look foreword to “Wing Side Up” and all the upcoming events. ~ Scott McLane Enjoy your continued support and efforts with supermodifieds–I’ve missed little going to big O since speedway opened while I was in high school~ Carl Schadt Bobby G, great shows at Lee and Waterford. You sure get the crowd going! ~Anne Schaefer Hey you guys doing good with the show and the web runs smooth–c u at the track!!! ~ Matt Smith Great shows bob keep up the great work you and your family have done a great job so far. ~ Allen Graf Bitchin’ page. Best of luck. I’ll be a regular. ~ Cynthia Tebbets Hi Bobby, You’re sounding real good. Keep up the great work. There ain’t nothing like supermods. ~ Jim Martel Bobby G. love the site! I like what you do and i'm sure the racing guys all like it also. You are the only voice we have and hopefully our fans become aware of this because it's all so positive. Thanks again~Lou Cicconi SR. We want to thank you very much for the much needed news about our favorite cars. Supermods are the best class of race cars. We''''ve loved them ever since Boyd Showers brought out the first off set car in the 70''''s at the San Jose Speedway. We were hooked ever since. We hope to see you again this race season and hope that our Jeff Russell gets back to good health soon, we miss him. Keep up the great work that you so Bobby!-Kathleen Smith Thanks for helping to keep the torch lit, Bobby. Your involvement and love of the sport is the spirit needed to keep it growing.
