He’s not called “The Worlds Fastest Supermodified Driver” just for kicks and Innerkip, Ontario, Canada’s Mike Lichty proved that he can live up to his nickname in the ISMA Friday Night Fast 40 at Sandusky Speedway on 07.29.11. Lichty, who also sat fast time, made a daring pass to the outside of reigning ISMA Champion Russ Wood on lap 25 in turn two.
Lichty won by a sizable margin over Bob Dawson who picked up his second ISMA podium finish in a week. Wood hung on for third after making contact with another car and bending up the front wing which gave the car a wicked push.
The race was slowed by just one caution on lap number nine when Joey Scanlon and Jeff Locke made contact and became locked together between turns three and four.
