We have received word that ISMA 3 time Gator Racing News Most Popular Driver Vern Romanoski and crew member John Foss are both ok after a scary tow vehicle fire en route to the Lee USA Speedway auto show at the Lilac Mall in Rochester, NH which is set to take place this weekend.
According to crew member and sponsor Scott Endres, he received a call from John saying that the borrowed hauler that Romanoski was using suddenly starting showing smoke and fire coming from the trailer. Romanoski and Foss pulled to the side of the road and were able to brave the flames and unhook the truck but were unable to remove the race car from the trailer. The trailer and it’s contents are considered a total loss at this point.
Romanoski had just rebuilt much of the car, and although the new engine that he was expecting from Vic Miller was not in the car, this is still a devastating blow to the driver who expected to participate in several more car shows promoting the sanctioning body of which he is a board member as well as their season opener at Oswego Speedway on May 7th.
Endres has asked that we pass along the information that John Foss and Vern Romanoski are in fine shape and will be headed back to Maine by morning to assess their next move. Endres also wanted to make sure that fans can check in on the Maine-Iack Racing Facebook Fan Page for updates.
