Further Down the Pike

Now I’m not so sure who’s idea it was to make Fall Foliage touring on the MASS Pike a good idea, but, even though I love this season and I love roadtripping, and I love the colors myself, I’m quickly growing tired of the multitude of morons that seem to have come out of the woods and flooded this rotten piece of road.

Throwing the brakes on for no apparent reason, or failing to find their exit until the last possible moment, only to swerve in front of a Freightliner carrying our calloused asses to a supermodified race is not a good way to make sure the only colors they are going to be seeing is the black of a body bag being zipped up over their eyes.

I am thinking that of al the the roads I’ve traveled on the American Interstate System, I am most annoyed by the time spent in Massachusetts.  The exits are tight and short, the bridges rougher than a cob and the drivers…and I use that term VERY loosely and politely, are the most inconsiderate, aggressive, and STUPID of any place I ever go.

Sorry MA friends, this is the armpit of American travel and it stinks worse than any Amish I’ve ever worked with.  If we are lucky we’ll make it to the race track by 9pm, but I’m having my doubts.

Thankfully we’ve made friends at the Lee rest area with a fellow who knows all about supermodified racing and is delivery a load of  cars north of where we’ll be in Epping.  We’ve been burnin up the airwaves on the CB and sharing some laughs.  These are the things I do enjoy the most about this whole deal.  Meeting new people, sharing our roadtrippin’ experiences.  My best friend Biggie always says that “it’s not the destination, it’s the journey,” and even though this journey is turning into what seems like an around the world event, it’s still an adventure that I won’t soon forget.
